Darjeeling is a serious business. We’ve been working with India’s Makaibari Estate for over 20 years to bring you a gentle, light-bodied tea. Bursting with wondrous natural properties, it’s packed with protective antioxidants for an uplifting moment of ‘mmm’. And because we’ve got nature’s back, it’s all grown using biodynamic farming – so the local tigers love it too
For anyone who's got properly serious about Darjeeling. This is a kilo of loose leaf from one garden, Makaibari, up in the Darjeeling hills, where the tea grows under the rainforest canopy. It's lighter than a breakfast blend and a lot more interesting: gentle, floral and aromatic, with a finish that hangs about.
We've been buying from the same garden for over thirty years and we're still not bored of it. Three minutes, no milk. A slice of lemon if you fancy it.
Use one teaspoonful per cup. Pour over freshly boiled water and infuse for up to three minutes. This tea is delicious with a slice of lemon or on its own. We don't think it needs milk, but a small drop won't hurt. It's a beautiful tea for any time of the day.
