All of our teas are certified Demeter, which is the highest standard for sustainable agriculture. It is often called “organic plus” as this method includes proactive farming techniques such as herbal soil preparations, rigorous composting systems, and alignment with a planetary calendar.
Biodynamic agriculture was conceived in the 20th century by the philosopher Rudolph Steiner. It is a naturally organic, holistic practice that seeks to maximise farm output while ensuring it is also self-sustainable. Special attention is given to balancing the farm with soil, plant, animal and cosmic processes in order to ensure continued harmony.
At Hampstead, we believe that this is the way forward for agriculture and our biodynamic teas are a salute to Steiner and his work.
